SERIES DESCRIPTION
When we Lead Small, what we do for a few will always have more potential than what we do for many. When we Lead Small, we simply make a choice to invest strategically in the lives of a few over time so we can help them build an authentic faith.
Lead Small Videos:
Be Present
Don’t underestimate the power of your presence when you show up week after week. Someone you least expect may never be the same because of it.
The first part of Lead Small is to BE PRESENT. Show up in the lives of your few:
-
Show up predictably.
-
Show up mentally.
-
Show up randomly.
Partner With Parents
It’s your job to PARTNER WITH PARENTS. It’s complicated. It’s awkward. It’s messy. However, it’s the second part of the Lead Small strategy. Here are three ways we specifically partner with parents:
-
Cue the Parent
-
Honor the Parent
-
Reinforce the Family
Creating a Safe Space
Authentic community only happens when we CREATE A SAFE PLACE. This kind of environment doesn’t happen automatically; it’s intentionally established by the small group leader. There are three main ways a small group leader can CREATE A SAFE PLACE:
-
Lead the group
-
Respect the process
-
Guard the heart
Make it Personal
In Week Four, we have another fun story to act out – the disciples in the storm. Preschoolers love to pretend to be the disciples in the boat and then be Jesus when He said “STOP!"
Move them Out
The most important thing we can do when they’re in our circle is to prepare them for when they’re not in our circle. Your role is temporary. It’s significant, but it’s temporary. We call the last part of the Lead Small strategy MOVE THEM OUT. Here’s how we practically do this:
-
Move them to someone else
-
Move them to be the Church
-
Move them to what's next
